New York, NY (September 18, 2017) – Today, EmblemHealth and Corinthian Medical IPA, Inc. (CIPA) announce the execution of a participation agreement leveraging downstream participating providers in the IPA’s extensive network to provide preventive care, early intervention and care coordination to underserved and diverse populations in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Upper Manhattan.

CIPA’s network of providers, many of whom are immigrants themselves, will give EmblemHealth members in these communities greater access to quality medical care and services. CIPA and EmblemHealth will work together to serve these Medicare, Medicaid and commercial members by providing culturally sensitive care facilitating the strong connection that patients have with their primary care providers. The more than 1,750 downstream participating IPA providers will focus the care of EmblemHealth enrolled members on population health management; maintaining the highest level of care in a cost centric environment.

“The EmblemHealth team enthusiastically embarks on this partnership with a leading medical group that has a strong track record of providing high quality population health care and one that understands the challenges faced by families who have been medically underserved,” said Karen Ignagni, EmblemHealth President and CEO.

The commitment of CIPA and its downstream providers has been and will remain preventive care, early intervention and care coordination focusing on detection and treatment of illness and disease, improving care of patients with chronic health conditions, and utilizing advanced information technology to enhance overall quality for patients in a clinical setting.

“The Board of Corinthian is excited and looking forward to having our network of nearly 1,750 downstream providers working with EmblemHealth in the delivery of patient-centered health care to hundreds of thousands of low-income, immigrant and working New York City residents,” said Dr. Ramon M. Tallaj, president of CIPA. “The Participation Agreements entered into between EmblemHealth and the IPA’s not only aligns our organizations with shared missions of providing health care to New York’s most vulnerable populations, but it also allows our IPA to continue growing as an organization and in its reach. Our network of independent private practitioners are in the communities they serve each and every day and are an essential part of those communities as they share in both the culture and languages of the diverse populations they serve.”
